Axle beams

Rear axle beams and subframes that carry the suspension arms, the springs and the wheel hubs of the rear axle, for European and Japanese passenger cars, identified by OE reference.

FUHRLENK axle beam: a welded steel subframe with four mounting points and the brackets for the suspension arms

An axle beam is the structural member of the rear axle. On a twist-beam rear axle the beam itself joins the two trailing arms and works as a stabiliser bar between them; on a multi-link or independent rear axle a subframe carries the arms, the springs and the differential and bolts to the body through rubber mountings.

The beam takes the vertical load of the vehicle, the lateral load in corners and the braking and driving forces at the rear wheels. Its mounting points set the position of the rear wheels in relation to the body, so a bent or corroded beam changes the wheel alignment and the way the car tracks.

FUHRLENK axle beams follow the geometry and the mounting points of the original part. They are made to OEM-compliant quality and tested for durability and temperature resistance.

The range covers European and Japanese passenger cars. Each reference is identified by the OE number of the original part; send that number and the vehicle identification number (VIN) and we confirm the matching FUHRLENK reference.

Frequently asked questions

When is an axle beam replaced?
When the beam or subframe is corroded through, cracked or bent after an impact, or when its mounting points are no longer secure. A roadworthiness test treats a fractured, excessively corroded or insecure suspension component as a defect. The beam is replaced as a unit, and the wheel alignment is checked afterwards.
